Exploring grief through communal gatherings & ritual. Honoring losses, from the small to the world-shattering.
The Mourning House also hosts Grief Talks, which is free and open to all.
Grief is something we all carry, yet rarely have the time or room to explore. Grief Talks is a gentle, community-led gathering where we unpack what grief is—and what it isn’t. Together, we explore how grief shows up in our lives, the many forms it can take (including those we don’t always recognize), and how our culture tends to respond—or fail to respond—to it. We also talk about the “entry points” of grief: the losses that open the door to this complex, sacred terrain.
There is space for open sharing, if you feel called to speak. Whether you bring a story, a memory, a question—or simply want to listen—you are welcome here.
This isn’t a support group or a therapy session. It’s a shared space to reflect, connect, and be witnessed in the presence of grief, in all its forms. Bring your heart, your questions, your stories, a friend—or just yourself. Also, if you want to bring something that represents what you are grieving that is ok too. And if it's more comfy for you, feel free to bring a blanket, wear comfy clothes, journal, pen, drawing paper, etc.
All are welcome. This is a non-religious gathering. Some of the things that stir up grief:
infertility
loss of a pet
severed family relationships
politics and the state of the nation
job loss
loss of identity
mental health
physical illness
chronic illness
loss of a loved one
poverty
empty nest
inner child (what we needed and did not receive)
being in any marginalized group that is seen as less than
things not turning out as you expected
divorce
our dying planet
This gathering is not just for those touched by the death of someone...it's for EVERYONE who has been touched by grief or is grief curious.
Location: Chapel (Use West Doors)
