About the event

ADVANCED: Anaphylaxis Management
ADVANCED Epinephrine Administration and Severe Allergic Reaction training:

For parents, teachers, coaches, camp staff, and other laypersons
Course taught by Registered Nurse using Oregon Health Authority education program.
Learn to recognize anaphylaxis and administer epinephrine via autoinjector.
Statement of Completion card available after attending class and completing post-class exam. Card valid for three years.
Optional prescription to obtain and carry epinephrine autoinjectors available.


This class covers certification requirements for the Oregon Health Authority. We’ll cover:

Recognition of the symptoms of systemic allergic response (anaphylactic reaction) to insect stings and other allergens;
Familiarity with factors likely to cause systemic allergic response;
Proper administration of an injection of epinephrine; and,
Necessary follow-up treatment.
Written OHA Exam
Upon completion of this course, participants will be issued a Statement of Completion card, signed by the instructor. If the participants want to obtain an epinephrine autoinjector from a pharmacy, they need to have the back of the Statement of Completion card, which is the prescription, signed by a nurse practitioner or physician. Pharmacists are instructed to look for these yellow cards and only these cards when filling the prescriptions. Please note, persons trained in this course attempting to obtain epinephrine from the pharmacy are responsible for all costs associated with the medication.

Approximate Course Length: 1.5-2 hours (depending on class size and time required for written test)
