Sunday at the Bing Crosby House Museum - presents Tom McArthur: The sounds that shaped Bing's career

Spokane journalist, historian and documentary producer Tom McArthur will transport you to the early days of popular music recordings Sunday, July 27, 3:30 pm at the Bing Crosby House Museum.

It is common to consider how Bing Crosby influenced popular music. It is rare to consider the popular music that influenced Bing Crosby. In this session, we'll listen to some popular music of the day when Bing was growing up - in the very house he would have heard these songs.

Then, we'll listen to a few of Bing's original 78-rpm shellac recordings played live on a hand-crank Victrola - the way Bing's family and friends would have heard his music back home in Spokane when it was brand-new.
