Led by artistic director, Monica Mota, and founded in 2017, Quiero Flamenco was created to bring Flamenco to the Inland Northwest. The company produces one major annual work at venues such as the Bing Crosby Theater and Myrtle Woldson Theater at Gonzaga University as well as smaller, more intimate tablao style shows. The shows include both local performers and some of the top Flamenco musicians and dancers from around the world. Queiro has performed at the ACES Symposium in Seattle, the University of Idaho Festival Dance, and its most recent theater show is being presented for television by KSPS-PBS.
Quiero also produces workshops from visiting artists so local dancers and musicians can take classes from visiting professional Flamenco performers. In addition to theater performances and workshops, Quiero Flamenco also teaches classes to local dancers, from children to adults, with students able to perform at local festivals and shows throughout the community.
Quiero Flamenco is honored to present an amazing lineup of guest artists in its next production, Tablao Flamenco. Tablao Flamenco is a powerful experience where dancers and musicians come together for an evening of Flamenco magic. Highlighting the improvisational communication between dancers and musicians in the ever-changing art of Flamenco, each Tablao show is a unique and never to be repeated experience. Joining Quiero Flamenco will be Jose Moreno a world class guitarist, singer, percussionist, and flamenco dancer based out of New York City; Jed Miley, a flamenco guitarist based in Seattle; Amelia Moore, Director of Oleaje Flamenco based in Seattle, and Flamenco singer Daniel Azcarate of Seattle.
