Board Basics

Join us for an interactive and informative training session designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to serve on nonprofit boards of directors.

Board Basics is an introductory training tailored for individuals eager to contribute their expertise and leadership to the nonprofit sector. During this session, you will:

• Gain an understanding of the role and responsibilities of nonprofit board members.
• Discover the key legal and ethical considerations that govern board operations.
• Explore best practices for financial stewardship
• Understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in board governance.
• Network with like-minded individuals and establish connections with nonprofits seeking board members.

Whether you are already a member of a board or interested in joining a board, Board Basics will equip you with the tools and insights needed to grow your professional experience.

• Please allow extra time for parking and navigating into the building.
• Limited parking is available on the street (Main & Broad streets) but we recommend parking in the Kennedy Street Garage (see Parking Map).
• You will need to enter the building from the main entrance which faces the plaza. There will be a security desk inside and a member of United Way staff to greet you and scan you up to the Boardroom.
