Join paper engineer Shobhna Patel to celebrate Charles Frederick Worth’s 200th birthday! Create a 3D papercraft gown from an original dress designed and produced by Charles Frederick Worth, in this relaxed and creative papercraft workshop.
Papercraft is a centuries old art form, where illustrations and designs are cut into either paper or card to create uniquely stunning and detailed artwork.
Throughout this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of paper art, how to confidently and safely use a scalpel/craft knife to create an intricate paper decoration - Shobhna will provide you with a template to carefully cut around. You will learn key techniques to control the cardstock and its behaviour, and hone your papercutting skills to create your own papercut patterns and designs at home.
All materials and equipment will be provided, so you won’t need to bring anything with you except for a healthy dose of creativity! No previous experience of working with a scalpel/ craft knife is required, as Shobhna will carefully guide you through each stage of the process.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to take home an ornate paper creation, which can be framed or displayed in a wooden box or cloche.
This workshop is led by experienced paper artist Shobhna Patel. Shobhna has specialised in all things paper since 2009. She creates unique artwork using contemporary paper-engineering methods and teaches workshops for all ages.
