The patchwork methods you will use include raw edge applique, template making and using, working with curves, chenille, pieced and 3D blocks. Plus Trapunto for the Corner Stones and a Rope Quilt pattern for the borders.
The quilt is made over 6 months so some homework is required. Classes are held on the second Saturday of the month, from January to June 2026. Please ensure you can attend all 6 before booking your place. Each month you will be guided through making the blocks and the next steps for your homework, plus given written instructions to support you.
Course dates are Saturday 10th Jan, 14th Feb, 14th March, 11th April, 9th May and 13th June 2026
They are held at the Lady Fraiser Room, Gosberton Rd., Surfleet PE. Which is a warm, well lit place to sit, sew, learn and chat. Laughter is also encouraged. It is situated in the grounds of the St Laurence Church, Surfleet. There are no steps into or within the building and parking is free in the roadside layby in front of and to the side of the Church. There are a couple of spaces directly outside the Lady Fraiser Room for those who need to park closer.
Every person has a 6ft table, ample room for your sewing machine and cutting mat at the side. I provide 2 ironing stations and a couple of mats, rulers and cutters for use during class.
Tea and coffee are also provided along with biscuits, Slimming World Hifi Bars and cake.
You will need to bring your sewing machine and sewing kit. It will be helpful to bring your mat, rulers and rotary cutters. Plus fabric to make your quilt a full requirements list will be sent on booking. Not forgetting your lunch, microwave and fridges are available and mug, these are available in the well equipped kitchen.
The classes are open to new quilters there is a smaller sampler quilt option, with 9 blocks or I will teach you the basics and help you make the larger quilt. Everyone works at their own pace, with as much support they need.
The cost of the course is £150 and can be made monthly. On booking your place you are agreeing to pay the full amount whether you attend all the classes or not.
