Dermal Filler of the Feet

This course is open to all HCPC-registered Podiatrists with POM-A certification.

Hyaluronan injections, typically combined with a local anesthetic, are used to enhance tissue volume in areas where elasticity has diminished. This naturally occurring substance plays a vital role in human tissues. When injected into specific areas, it can restore cushioning to regions that have become thin and painful. For instance, the soft tissue under the forefoot or heel may lose its padding, leading to joint pain (Metatarsalgia). Similarly, toe joints can develop bony prominences that contribute to corns and ulcers due to friction. In such cases, tissue fillers act as an internal cushion, helping to alleviate pain and prevent further damage for several months.

About the Course

Led by Podiatrist Independent Prescriber Martin Harvey, this course explores a range of licensed filler products available for immediate use by trained podiatrists.

Although dermal fillers are designed for injection, they are classified as medical devices rather than prescription medications and can be purchased freely.

Delegates will receive demonstrations on the properties, mechanisms, and clinical applications of these substances in podiatry.

Additionally, the course includes an LA (local anesthetic) update, revisiting nerve and site locations for digital and ankle blocks.
