Join us for an exciting day of discovery at Morneau Farm in Southbridge! Come explore the diversity of life right in our backyard and contribute to science and to Opacum’s knowledge of Morneau Farm.
The purpose of a BioBlitz is to discover and identify as many living species as possible. We’ll explore the early successional habitat, open fields, and mature forests of this diverse property looking for fungi, trees, mammals, insects, and everything in between – every living thing counts!
No prior experience necessary – just bring your curiosity! We will be using the iNaturalist app to record and identify our finds. We encourage you to play around with it beforehand and to come with a full battery.
From 9:30 AM to 10, we’ll be available to help orient people to the iNaturalist app and to go over BioBlitz guidelines. At 10:00, we’ll head out onto the property and start recording our observations.
Attendees are encouraged to pack a lunch and bring water. Light snacks will be provided. We’ll meet back up at noon to enjoy our lunch and swap stories about our finds.
