ABOUT THE SHOW
Sweeney Todd
The Demon Barber of Fleet Street / A Musical Thriller
Music and Lyrics: Stephen Sondheim
Book: Hugh Wheeler
In the shadowy streets of Victorian London, a vengeful Sweeney Todd has returned to discover what became of his wife and daughter – and to take brutal revenge on the corrupt judge who destroyed his life. Working with the devious Mrs Lovett, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street hatches a chilling plan that will have audiences thinking twice before their next haircut.
With Sondheim’s unforgettable score packed with spine-tingling numbers, this bold and bloody production promises an evening of high drama, haunting harmonies and theatrical brilliance. So join us on an unforgettable journey into madness, murder and monstrous meat pies — only at the Mayflower Studios, January 2026.
ABOUT SOS PRESENTS
Our group (“SOS”) was founded in 1924, making us Southampton’s oldest amateur musical society. While our official charity registration name is Southampton Operatic Society, we are known as SOS Presents and perform two musicals a year at the Mayflower Studios in the heart of Southampton’s cultural quarter. We are committed to maintaining very high production standards (professional theatre, paid band, excellent set, costumes, props) and we are always keen to welcome new members wanting to support us on stage as performers or behind the scenes in many different capacities.
