Where is the event at?

Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC), 1 Convention Centre Place, South Wharf VIC 3006, Australia.

What are my transport and/or parking options at MCEC?

By car/train/tram/bus/taxi:

Access to the event will be through the main entrance of the MCEC.

Is the venue (MCEC) disable friendly?

Yes.

Where should I stay?

TICKET INFORMATION

• All tickets available on PayPal - PayPal will be used to process payments and an account isn't required.

• Unfortunately due to high conversion fees all tickets will be sold in US dollars, spreading the expense among all attendees.

• Early Entry Tickets: $105+ conversion & PayPal fees ($10 increase from 2023) ~ Approximately $161.22 AUD

• General Admission: $75 + conversion & PayPal fees ~ approximately $115.16 AUD

($10 increase from 2023)

• Meet & Greet: $8 + conversion & PayPal fees ~ approximately $12.28 AUD ($1 increase from 2023)

• Tickets on Sale November 30, 2024 9pm Melbourne time

• There is no difference between Early Entry and General Admission other than 2 extra hours

What is included with each ticket?

ALL signing tickets include entrance, pictures and autographs with authors. There is no separate cost for pictures or autographs (this is NOT a con)

The only difference is that Early Entry tickets enter 2 hours earlier.

The Friday Meet & Greet ticket includes entry to the Meet & Greet and one raffle ticket. Raffle numbers to be called at the end of Saturdays signing. It is *possible* some (5-10) of Saturday authors might sign for one hour increments at the Meet & Greet. 85% of Saturday signing authors will be in attendance to chat and be available to take pictures with attendees but will not be signing.

*The Meet & Greet will take place in a hall instead of a separate room. The separate rooms available are too small and it was way too small in 2023. Tables, chairs, bar, available. The Meet & Greet is fun to meet up with book friends and chit chat with authors in a casual setting.*

Who must be ticketed?

Anyone entering the Exhibition halls and/or Foyer must be ticketed. All spouses, caregivers, friends, parents, and children 16 and over must be ticketed.

*no children under 16 - NO EXCEPTIONS* All attendees between 16 and 17 must be accompanied with an attendee 18 years of age or older*

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

RARE is now able to scan tickets for entry, so paper or electronic tickets are both accepted. No ID is required unless you lose your ticket and or do not have access to it electronically.

If you do not have your paper ticket or can not check in electronically then identification is required. If you do not have a paper ticket, cannot check in electronically, and your identification is not the same name as you purchased your ticket in, you will need to update the correct information on Eventbrite prior to the event.

Please note there will be explicit book covers and banners in the event room.

*Due to occupancy restrictions CHILDREN UNDER 16 will not be permitted entry* please do not bring babies/young children as you will not be permitted entry.

Do I need to add personal information to all tickets being purchased?

Yes. The ticket holder's name, email address, age and country should be on each ticket.

**ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND NO REFUNDS.**

Prior to paying for your tickets you will be prompted to enter the name, email, and age for each attendee.

**DUE TO THE NUMBER OF TICKETS SOLD WE WILL NOT MAKE NAME CHANGES FOR YOU**

Should you sell your ticket this is between you and the buyer, you must change the names AND email address on all tickets.

Is my ticket transferrable?

YES. Should you sell any tickets it will be your responsibility to transfer the ticket to the new owner by updating the name, age, country and email address for each attendee.

Can I update my ticket information?

Yes, log into your Eventbrite account and update your information there.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No! You can also present your electronic ticket and QR code on your phone.

Please bring one of the following with you to enter: paper ticket, electronic ticket, or identification that matches the name on the purchased ticket.

Identification is required for those who look under 16 or do not have a paper ticket or a way to electronically check in, and said identification must match the name on the ticket.

The name on the ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Tickets should match your identification so we can verify the age of each attendee and purchaser if ticket is lost or you are not able to check in electronically. For a smooth entry, try to make sure if possible that your name on your identification and your ticket match. Please keep in mind if your friend buys your ticket and her name is on it you have no recourse.

Is there a limit of how many items I can get signed by one author or in total at the event?

SPECIAL EDITIONS - NO MORE THAN TWO OF THE SAME TITLES/SAME EDITION per attendee.

No more than 2 non book items (not including book plates) per each author.

Some authors will have a limit of total number of items to be signed. This information will be posted as soon as possible and is subject to change at any time.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Feel free to bring as many books as you like, Kindle covers, iPad covers, book plates, and/or any items you would like signed.

No alcohol of any kind can be brought into the event. Snacks and non alcohol drinks can be brought into the event. There will be a bar /snack bar at all events.

Do I have to buy my own books?

Yes. Books will not be provided for free. If you would like a book signed, please bring that title with you or pre order it from the author. Some attending authors will have a pre order form so you can order directly from them, some will not. Only traditionally published books in Australia will be available through a bookseller at the event.

Will a bookseller (bookstore) be selling books at the event?

Yes however a book seller will only sell traditional titles -meaning only titles distributed by an Australian publisher. If the book you want is not traditionally published (the author is indie) then the bookseller will not have the book.

Will there be food or drink for sale at the event?

There will be a cash bar for drinks along with a snack bar on Saturday. Water stations will be throughout the event.

Is there a dress code for the event?

No. You will be on your feet all day and rooms tend to get warm, please dress comfortably, wear comfortable shoes, and dress in layers.

Will the author list change?

Yes. The author list is subject to change at any time. Author cancelations for international events are always high but are even higher for Australian events.

Ticket sales are final regardless of cancellations. Authors take signings very serious and confirm after much thought. RARE re confirms with each author three+ times prior to being announced. Should they cancel it is due to a conflict in schedule, an illness, or emergency. Please be prepared for cancellations, they are inevitable especially for overseas signings. If you read as many attending authors as possible you won't be as disappointed if some authors cancel.

What is the refund policy?

NO REFUNDS- all sales final regardless of reason

Where can I find more infos about the event and get in touch with fellow readers?

Please join the dedicated facebook group: RARE25 Melbourne attendee group.

One day signing but the event will be the same size or bigger as 2023. Authors prefer one day and attendance was slim on day two last year.

Each person who enters each event requires a ticket including carers, spouses. Carer tickets will not be listed.

There will be one ticket for the signing and one ticket for the Meet & Greet. A signing ticket is required to purchase a Meet & Greet ticket. If we cannot find a corresponding signing ticket your meet and greet ticket will be voided and refunded.

MEET & GREET:

• 4:30PM - 8PM Friday October 3

• Raffle - Must be present to win (winners announce at the end of the Saturday signing)

• Meet & Greet tickets are only available to those with a Saturday signing ticket. This will be verified.

AUTHOR SIGNING

• 4 October, 2025

• Early Entry 9:30am - 4:30pm

• General Admission 11:30am - 4:30pm

• Snack bar/bar on site

• Depending on sponsorships there will be some free books only given out at signing

• Volunteers will require a ticket, more information to come. Volunteers will have 2.5 hour shifts or all day shifts. Assistant volunteers, full day volunteers, and morning Line Ambassador's will enter with Early Entry. Afternoon Line Ambassador's will enter at the front of General Admission. Those who volunteer for the full day will also receive lunch. - All volunteers require a general admission ticket.

• In order to see as many authors as possible be prepared to be at the signing the full day and not leave early.
