Patching & Mending

Join Amy Elise Roberts in the art of repairing and embellishing garments in a creative, fun, decorative, and practical fashion. Students will learn a few simple embroidery stitches, such as the blanket, running, and French knot stitches. We will be using a wide range of colorful fabrics, trims, and thread - plus vintage! - to create wearable, upcycled art. By the end of this class, students will have a new skill that embraces the beauty and sustainability of visible repair.

Please bring a a few things to work on to class. Woven fabrics work best for this class, for example, jeans, cotton shirt, skirt, or jacket. All other supplies will be provided.

Students will receive a good needle, beeswax, and 4 skeins of embroidery thread to take home, plus whatever bits and pieces they need to continue to finish their work at home.
