48 Hour Film Project: Filmmaking Skills Workshop Day

Saturday June 29th | 11am–5pm
Join us for a full day of filmmaking workshops designed to sharpen your skills ahead of this year’s 48 Hour Film Project. Across three hour-long sessions, you’ll get practical, real-world advice from industry professionals on the essentials of fast-paced, independent filmmaking.
WORKSHOP TOPICS:
11am - Sound – with Tfer Newsome
Tfer Newsome is a sound recordist, designer, and educator who’s all about helping new filmmakers bring their stories to life through sound. With over 20 years in the industry and a PhD in progress on the power of ambience in documentary, she brings deep knowledge and real-world experience to every workshop.
Tfer co-founded the Lyrebirds Screen Sound Club to support fresh, diverse voices in screen sound and she loves sharing the joy of sound through hands-on workshops that inspire the next wave of storytellers.
2pm - Lighting – With Richard Whitfield
Richard Whitfield is a master of lighting and visual storytelling, with decades of experience behind the camera. From commercial film shoots in Hong Kong to award-winning fine art portraiture across Queensland, Richard is a master of his craft.
4pm – With Alex Clegg from Late Night .99
Alex Clegg is the founder of Late Night .99 - a Queensland-based production company that has produced 4 feature films and over 40 short films over the past five years. He's a strong advocate of the ‘just-do-it’ school of filmmaking.
