We at First Presbyterian Church have partnered with God’s Pit Crew (GPC), from Danville, VA, in several ways. We have sent financial contributions, some of our members have traveled with GPC to the Asheville area to help with clean-up efforts, and others have volunteered at the GPC warehouse in Danville. Now we are setting our sights on a much larger project!
Our objective is to assemble 1,008 Blessing Buckets, which God’s Pit Crew will distribute nationwide to individuals affected by natural disasters, tragedies, or poverty. These five-gallon, hope-filled buckets contain essentials for life, and have been delivered to places like Western NC, FL, GA, and CA in response to hurricanes and wildfires. They contain items such as toilet paper, snacks, bottled water, deodorant, shampoo, and much more. GPC has discovered these items help restore hope, when everything else is lost.
On Aug 23rd, two tractor trailers will arrive in our parking lot. One with emergency supplies, and the other prepped and ready to be filled with 1,008 Blessing Buckets assembled by our church and ministry partners. We want this to be a community event, supported by money and volunteers from all over Halifax County!
It is required for us to raise $40,000 to support this mission, so we are calling on our generous congregation, the surrounding church community, as well as local businesses to help raise the necessary funds. There are several levels of financial support available. Individuals and organizations can sponsor buckets for $35 each, or a Pallet of buckets for $1,920. Of course, larger contributions would be an amazing blessing! Your tax-deductible contribution can be made in the form of a check to First Presbyterian Church; all monies will be forwarded to GPC.
This effort will also require 60-70 volunteers on Aug 23, from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm, so please click the link at the top to sign up.
