Nomad Theatre Collective will hold auditions for its first play, The Revolutionists, on Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, September 24, at 6:30 PM at The Well, located at 2410 Mishawaka Ave in South Bend. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script and improv exercises; you do not need to prepare any material in advance.
The Revolutionists is a feisty, feminist comedy about a quartet of women fighting to keep their heads as a once-hopeful revolution for freedom and equality descends into bloody violence during the Reign of Terror. Nomad Theatre is seeking 4 actors, 18 years and older, for the following roles:
OLYMPE DE GOUGES: 38. Activist playwright, feminist, theatre nerd, excitable, passionate, a showwoman.
CHARLOTTE CORDAY/FRATERNITÉ: 25. A very serious country girl and assassin, hardened by righteousness, and never been kissed.
MARIE-ANTOINETTE/FRATERNITÉ: 38. Friendless former queen of France, bubbly, opinionated, totally unaware, yet oddly prescient.
MARIANNE ANGELLE: 30s, Black. A free woman and spy from the Caribbean, tough, classy, the sanest of the bunch.
Roles are open to all ethnicities and races, unless specified in the character description. The age/age range given is based on information in the script, but performers will be considered from a broader age range.
The Revolutionists is directed by April Sellers and stage managed by Erin Scott, with costumes by Olivia Lianez, lighting and set design by Derrick Null, props by Derek Bacon, and sound design by Matt Anderson.
