What do knitting, circles, and stories have in common? They are antidotes to busyness, chaos, and the unsettled feelings we struggle to calm. They are a renewed and radical approach to finding peace.
Dr. Sylvia Olsen, historian, storyteller, award-winning author, knitter, knitter designer, housing specialist, and teacher will be leading the course and knitting a mandala that will become a beautiful art piece to hang or a table centerpiece. The course will include instructions on several knitting techniques including pinhole cast-on, no-strand colour work, three-stitch cast-off, and an amended version of making a pi circle. We will take time to tell and time to listen to each other’s stories and as a group we will discuss the meaning and importance of circles, of pulling together and coming together, in our lives.
If you have mastered the simple act of knitting a stitch Sylvia will guide you through the other techniques. Participants will help each other with the complicated parts or, with Sylvia, you will find ways to simplify.
