Dear pals Stevie and Wally play a set apiece, and then no doubt combine forces for a we-are-the-world-style finale. Gonna be a gas.
Stevie Coyle:
Fingerpicking former frontman of whiz-bang string band The Waybacks Stevie Coyle has a long and illustrious career as an entertainer that began well before birth. His expressive, sometimes explosive fingerstyle acoustic guitar is an essential element in his insightful storytelling in song, and Stevie shares his unique observations of humans on the planet with a singular and endearing wit.
After leaving the Waybacks, Stevie went “solo and feral," releasing his first solo CD, Ten-In-One (produced by none other than Walter Strauss), & has performed with musicians like David Lindley, Joe Craven, and Jimmy Dale Gilmore. For the past 8 years he was one half of high-octane guitar duo The Quitters, with former Waybacks founder Glenn Houston, and currently, he performs solo.
Walter Strauss:
Guitarist Walter Strauss' playing is held in high regard in varied corners of the musical world. The great Malian kora player Toumani Diabate called Walter’s guitar renditions of West African kora music “inspirational”. British guitar icon Martin Simpson calls Walter’s playing “beautiful, fluid, and sophisticated”. His guitar is a rich blend of texture and syncopation, influenced by diverse global stringed instruments, contemporary and ancient.
Walter has toured internationally both solo & in collaborations - with Malian kora greats Grammy-winner Mamadou Diabate and Sidiki Diabate, multi-instrumentalist Joe Craven, and West Coast songbirds MaMuse... in hotspots like Havana with violinist Tanmy Lopez Moreno, and Scotland with Old Blind Dogs fiddler Jonny Hardie.
