About the event
Robbie Burns Run
Robbie Burns Run – Saturday, January 24, 9am, Ed Macgregor Park
In light of Robbie Burns Day on January 25 and Sooke's Scottish roots, we have a Saturday run/walk Scottish Heritage route for anyone interested. You should pass 4 heritage sites for the 11k route and 3 for the 5k. The first European settlers were Scottish – first Captain Walter Grant and then John Muir and family followed. On this route, you should see:
a) the heritage plaque commemorating the six ships the Muir family built in Sooke (Horne Rd.)
b) the cairn in memory of Walter Grant (Millennium Memorial Park on Maple Avenue),
and
c) the two 1885 Muir houses – (7117 West Coast Road, near John Muir Elementary School and Burnside House on Maple).
Both runs start and finish at Ed Macgregor Park, start 9am.
See website upcoming events section for the two route choices (11km or 5.4km)
