The annual 'Hawk Watch' drop-in event will be taking flight on Saturday, Sept. 20!
Drop by East Sooke Regional Park at Aylard Farm between 11am and 2pm for displays and activities by #crdParks naturalists and guest organizations like Nature Victoria, Rocky Point Bird Observatory and The Raptors!
*For the early birds, join birding expert Geoffrey Newell on a guided walk up to Beechey Head, learning about the raptors of the sky along the way. This walk starts at 10am, earlier than the main event, and meets at the information kiosk at Aylard Farms parking lot.*
From 11am onwards, for those who want a hike, you can join Geoffrey and a CRD Regional Parks naturalist at the viewpoint above Beechey Head from 11am to 1pm. The hike to the viewpoint requires sturdy footwear and includes a 30-minute walk through the forest and then up a steep and rocky trail. Meet at the information kiosk at the Aylard Farm parking lot off Becher Bay Road and bring binoculars, water and a lunch.
The Raptors from Duncan will also be joining with live raptors for a closer look at these amazing birds, and there will be many other activities to join at the accessible picnic shelter.
All ages are welcome at this free event. Flap your wings on over and join us!
