The Sonora Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the return of El Campo de Sonora on June 7, 2025 from 2pm to 8pm at Courthouse Park. In its second year, El Campo de Sonora will celebrate the vibrant, colorful aggregation of cultures of 175 years ago. In that spirit, this year’s theme is “A Cultural Tapestry,” and the afternoon-long program with feature plays, music, plays, music, dance, storytelling, art and crafts, and, of course, food that showcase the indigenous people and various nationalities and ethnicities populating Sonora in 1849. This free, family-friendly celebration of Sonora’s history, culture, and the arts will feature performances and activities including:
• Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians — Traditional songs and dances
• Black Irish Band — Celtic music and stories
• GunPowder Man — A telling of the Chinese experience in early California
• Long Fist Kung Fu Lion Dancers — A Chinese symbol of power shows off
• City Historian Pat Perry — Family histories from Sonora’s rich past
• Mark Twain on Stage—Actor Jeffrey Weissman becomes the famed author
• Hawaiian Dancers — Ancestorial Island chants and dance
• Columbia College Folkloric Dancers — A lively annual favorite
• Mother Lode Latin Ensemble —Latin music to end the evening
• Tuolumne County Historical Society Storytelling Booth — Tales of Local History and an old-time photo booth Cultural Crafting • • Booth —Tuolumne County Arts offers hands-on activities
• Food Court and Artisan Vendors — Ethnic food booths and crafts
El Campo de Sonora is a collaboration of the City of Sonora and the Sonora Chamber of Commerce and community partners:
