3-5: Meet and Greet the Artists
5-7: Complimentary Beverages and Food and Music
7-9: Open Mic, Markus Nechay Presentation. ALL ARE WELCOME TO SPEAK!
Prospero Eaton and Jymi Cliche are some of the most beloved artists of the OOTB Gallery! Both myself and Founder Tom Tipton reveled in their works throughout their journey with us. Thus, we are SO proud to host a free and open to the public event for them on August 24th from 3-7pm, followed by a presentation by Markus Nechay of nearly 40 years of OOTB's history and an open mic from 7-9pm! ALL are welcome to come up to the stage at that time to share poetry, discuss their history with the Gallery, and enjoy complimentary beverages and food, as always from the house of Parma Chai! In upcoming weeks, these two artists will feature 10-15 luminous works at the Armory! At the time of the Art Show, folks are welcome to purchase any of their or the other artists' works on show at the Armory, alongside prints, books, stickers, etc!
PROSPERO EATON PRESENTS:
"A Tribute to Seamus and Other Selected Works"
On December 13, 2024, my beloved cat Seamus crossed the mythical rainbow bridge at the age of seventeen. While I did not know him until he was ten, the time we spent together was magical. I continue to love him as a son. Shortly after his passing, I completed the painting I Miss You, My Polydactyl Pal with tears in my eyes as I cherished his memory. Postcard from the Bubblegum Dimension depicts a place I imagine visiting with him. Seamus Shines On imagines Seamus rising from the soil in the form of a sunny flower. Seamus: A Celebration is a Dia De Los Muertos inspired painting that aims to celebrate his magnificent personality. Captain Creamsicle is a painting of Seamus that I completed in 2022.
From September 2024 to May 2025, I was a social work intern at a Salem and Beverly based organization that specializes in expressive arts therapy. This internship inspired me to experiment with my creativity, and that experimentation is apparent in the abstract items in this exhibition, including Staring at the Sky from the Redwood Forest, Live: From the Imagination, and A Sense of Style. Other works portray nebulas. When I paint a nebula, I tap into a side of my personality that enjoys getting lost in vibrant colors while floating in the cosmos. They are incredibly therapeutic to create. In Motion is a piece I completed in 2020 that is making its public debut at last.
JYMI CLICHE PRESENTS:
“The Wicked Cliche Inner Child Journey”
These 4 paintings were art therapy for me as I’m recovering from addictions and symptoms of Dissociative Identity Disorder. They depict my inner children, Jaime and Max, at different points in my therapeutic journey. They’re done with acrylic paint and cold wax.
The one with the pink background was the first of this collection, done in early 2024, right before I went into the hospital for five months. I knew that I was embarking on a journey where I’d have to be brave and fight for my life, but I wanted to fight without violence, which was why Jaime is putting down the knife. It’s called “Jaime Christmas: The Princess King”.
This past year, I’ve done two more sets of paintings of Jaime and Max and I’m happy to say that they’re smiling in the new pieces. I use the paintings to make videos of them, which I call “Play Therapy 2 Save The World”. I completed a set of 78 tarot cards this year as well, which I’ll be selling at the event and doing a reading to demonstrate the cards. I’ll also be reading a chapter from my book, New Horizons School, about the alternative high school I graduated from in Boston in the 90s.
