7:30 PM EXPRESSIVE BACK CROSSES, ANCIENT & MODERN
Let's refine the communication skills, techniques, structural options (read: what is the leader doing?), adornments for the follower's back cross (it's not the back ocho!). Enjoy its swing, possibly its ka-thunk!, and how we'll emerge this time! After so satisfyingly landing each back cross, we can make a big deal of uncrossing, or not ... or secretly ....

ABOUT REBECCA
Rebecca ran one of the most established tango programs in the country (Dance Manhattan) for over twenty years. A longtime collaborator with Daniel Trenner, Brigitta Winkler, and Evan Griffiths, Rebecca brings her own dimension of tango gentleness, sharpness, brilliance, and wit.
A phenomenal social dancer and improvisor, Rebecca has an impressive tango memory finely tuned to the subtleties of this dance. Rebecca started visiting Buenos Aires with Daniel Trenner in 1991. Her teachers from those years include Mingo and Esther Pugliese, Gustavo Naviera & Olga Besio, Tete & Maria, Juan Bruno and Antonio Todaro. Skilled and creative as both follower and leader, she has danced not only with elderly Argentine milongueros from tango's Golden Age, but also with the finest creative young men of her home country, improvising brilliantly in performance with Jaimes, Homer, Alex, Nick, and Evan.
Rebecca has taught workshops across the U.S. and all over the world. Teaching at Dance Manhattan from 1994-2014, Rebecca brought many of her colleagues there to create its rich tango program. More than a dozen of New York’s current tango teachers are Rebecca’s former students. Rebecca is also a co-founder of TangoMujer, the all-women dance company that performed internationally from 1996-2006.
As a teacher, Rebecca is insightful and encouraging; she acknowledges one's pain and triumph, and is a rich resource for countless ideas and artistic innovations.
