Sofia Underground Performance Art Festival е създаден през 1997 г. от критика и куратор Руен Руенов (1958-2011) като серия от пърформанси, развиващи се по време на дълъг хепънинг в подземията на Националния дворец на културата.
С течение на времето Sofia Underground се трансформира в международен форум, даващ възможност за изследване на различни аспекти на пърформанс изкуството, като подчертава значението на свободното изразяване и експеримента. Събитие, предоставящо пространство за диалог и дискусия, което насърчава разнообразието и иновациите в пърформанс изкуството. Изкуството на живо, изкуството на момента, признато в световен мащаб като важен инструмент за изразяване на различни идеи и предизвикване на стереотипи и предразсъдъци.

Този форум е място, където артистите могат да се изразяват свободно и да създават смислени и социално ангажирани проекти, които оказват влияние върху обществото и провокират размисъл. Участниците обменят идеи, черпят вдъхновение един от друг и си сътрудничат по проекти. В този смисъл Sofia Underground се превръща в катализатор на културното многообразие в страната и в уникална платформа за изразяване на индивидуалността чрез пърформанс изкуство. Той обединява хора от различни култури, етноси и позиции, за да споделят страстта си към творчеството и да създадат уникални преживявания, в които пространството, публиката и артистите стават част от едно цяло.
Изданието сe реализира от Studio Dauhaus и Synaesthesia Collective. SU2025 е част от културния календар на Столична Община за 2025 и се осъществява с подкрепата на Гьоте-институт България.

Sofia Underground Performance Art Festival was created in 1997 by critic and curator Ruen Ruenov (1958-2011) as a series of performances developing in a long happening in the vaults of the National Palace of Culture.

Over time, Sofia Underground has transformed into an international forum that provides an opportunity to explore different aspects of performance art, emphasizing the importance of free expression and experimentation. An event providing space for dialogue and discussion that encourages diversity and innovation in performance art.

Live art, the art of the moment, which is globally recognized as an important tool for expressing different ideas and challenging stereotypes and prejudices.

This forum is a place where artists can express themselves freely and create meaningful and socially engaged projects that impact society and provoke thought. Participants share ideas, get inspiration from each other, and collaborate together on projects. In this sense, Sofia Underground becomes a catalyst for cultural diversity in the country and a unique platform for the expression of individuality through performance art. It brings together people from different cultures, ethnicities and positions to share their passion for creativity and create unique experiences where space, audience and artists become part of a whole.

The festival is organized by Studio Dauhaus and Synaesthesia Collective. SU2025 is part of the cultural calendar of Sofia Municipality for 2025 and is realized with the support of Goethe-Institute Bulgaria.
