L44 is thrilled to announce it’s current artist-in-residency - Jimmy Turrell (Apr 4th - May 5th) . The artist and video director is known for his bold visuals across music projects for icons like The Rolling Stones, The Chemical Brothers, Elvis, Beck, ACDC and The Prodigy —plus standout commercial work for brands like Chanel, Apple, and Nike. Jimmy will be staying in Sofia for a month, by the invitation of L44.
Working with hybrid techniques—most notably collage—Jimmy creates bold, rebellious pieces that pulse with energy and capture the raw rhythm of our time. His work fuses slogans, found materials, and photography, all bursting into vibrant color and movement. This style is a glorious clash of punk spirit, 60s psychedelia, 80s zines, hip-hop, protest culture, and vintage advertising—all mashed up into a bold, unmistakable aesthetic.
During his one-month stay in Sofia, Jimmy will be diving into local culture, creating a new body of work inspired by 5 different themes**,** in collaboration with Sito Studio and Lobster (Animation).

🔹 April 26 – Get hands-on in a special workshop led by the artist, channeling his work during the residency in Sofia.
🔹 April 29 – Be there for the opening of the pop-up exhibition at L44’s Lobster Gallery, featuring all-new work shaped by his time in Sofia.

L44 с удоволствие представя настоящия си резидент – Джими Тюрел. Художник и видео режисьор, Тюрел е известен със смелия си визуален стил, проявил се в проекти за музикални легенди като The Rolling Stones, The Chemical Brothers, Elvis, Beck, ACDC и The Prodigy – както и в комерсиалната му работа за Chanel, Apple, Nike и много други. Джими ще остане в София за един месец по покана на L44.
Работейки с хибридни техники – най-вече колаж – Джими създава дръзки, бунтарски произведения, които пулсират с енергия и улавят динамичния ритъм на нашето време. Работите му съчетават слогани, намерени материали и фотография, взривяващи се в цветни петна. Авторът сблъсква пънк, психеделията на 60-те, зиновете на 80-те, хип-хоп, протестна култура и винтидж реклама – всички те вплетени в дръзка и лесно разпознаваема естетика.
По време на едномесечния си престой в София, Джими ще се потопи в местната култура и ще създаде нова серия от творби, вдъхновен от 5 различни теми, в колаборация със Sito Studio и Lobster (Animation).
