It’s our favorite time of year! This is our 14th Annual Navajo County Attorney’s Office Victims’ Rights Symposium. This year our focus is "Every Child Matters," in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. Symposium is a full-day local training for local partner agencies who work with victims of crime and the community about topics that impact victims of crime.
This event will be held in person. We have a keynote presenter in the morning, followed by 4 breakout workshops that will be about an hour and 15 minutes long. The breakout workshops are repeated in the morning and in the afternoon.
Booths from our presenters and victim service partners will be set up for attendees to visit during breaks.
Abducted at gunpoint and held captive at just 15 years old, Kara Robinson Chamberlain’s daring escape and collaboration with law enforcement led to the identification and capture of a serial killer. Leveraging her extensive experience as a survivor, former law enforcement officer, advocate, and media professional, Kara provides practical applications for empowering victims and fostering resilience.
General registration for this event is $10 a person, lunch included.
Registration with a t-shirt is $25 a person, lunch included.
*All of the proceeds from t-shirt purchases will go to helping victims of domestic violence or sexual assault with emergency funds. T-shirt sales will end April 24th.*
Registration for our Youth Workshop, lunch included, is free.
A youth workshop and contest for teens ages13-18 is tailored to address unique challenges kids face.
Workshops offered at Symposium qualify for AZPOST, CLE, and COJET certifications.
To show our appreciation, this year we will be giving out awards for the following:
- Navajo County Distinguished Law Enforcement Officer, Robert Varner Award
- Navajo County Distinguished Services Award
- Navajo County Business Assisting Justice Award

If you know anyone who has done an exceptional job working with victims of crime, we encourage you to nominate them for an award. Help us celebrate the positive impact these individuals have on the lives of victims and raise awareness about the importance of supporting victims of crime in our communities. During the luncheon, we will recognize members of our community who have accomplished exceptional work on behalf of victims of crime.
To nominate an individual for an award, please visit our Symposium website and go to the “Awards” tab.
