Ladies First Doubles Tournament 2025

The FIFTH Ladies First Doubles Tournament is now here! This tournament will be capped at 32 teams. Etiquette for registering is described below.

Multipurpose field (east)
Parking: There are several lots with parking, but the closest is the one by the sand volleyball courts.
Dogs 🐶 : dogs are not allowed on the playing field, but they are allowed in the space between the playing field and the sand courts. Keep leashed at all times. There is an off-leash dog park area too!

Check in: 8:30 a.m.
Captains' meeting: 8:50 a.m.
Start play: 9 a.m.

Nets: We procure nets ahead of time and set them up the morning of. If you'd like to provide a net, you will get $10 off the entry fee, and we will pick it up the week of so we can set it up (unless you commit to arriving at least half an hour before start time). If you bring multiple, no entry fee needed!

Format:
- Women’s doubles
- Double elimination
- Pool play is two sets to 21 (cap is 21)
- Gold, silver, and bronze brackets
- Bracket: First round is a match, best 2/3 (21, 21, 15) and the rest after that are one to 28 in winners’ bracket and one to 21 in losers’.
- Level will be approximately A/BB, but all levels are welcome since it will be broken up after pool play (years past have been pretty balanced).

Rules:
- Basic grass volleyball rules
- No open-hand tips
- Serve receive with two hands together
- Directional blocking is allowed
- A net is a net (full range of motion)
- If you receive a non-hard-driven ball with your hands, it must come out clean
- Block does NOT count as a touch
- We will not be doing the "intent to set" rule
- Everything is at the refs’ discretion. Trust your refs. Call yourself if you can (like a net or a double), but if there is a questionable call, ask your refs. When in doubt, replay it!

Spots:
- Post if you would like a spot
- Teams on the waitlist get on the main list, when teams drop, in the order they asked. Give a full roster if possible. WAITLIST IS WORTH IT, for, in the past, all teams have gotten in eventually.
- I reply pretty quickly, so if I haven’t liked your post or responded to your message within a day, feel free to nudge.

Prizes:
GOLD
1st place (per player): $100 lululemon gift card + lululemon visor
2nd place (per player): $75 lululemon gift card
SILVER
1st place (per player): $50 lululemon gift card + lululemon socks
2nd place (per player): lululemon water bottle
BRONZE
1st place (per player): $50 lululemon gift card + lululemon scrunchies
2nd place (per player): lululemon water bottle

- If you plan on paying cash at the tournament, let us know ahead of time. We’d prefer Venmo/PayPal (sent by Wednesday) beforehand so we can purchase supplies.
- NO REFUNDS if you drop within 48 hours of the tourney. If we don’t receive payment or a message about payment by Thursday morning, we will assume you’re dropping your spot.

Thank you to everyone for participating. I’ll update this as time passes, but let’s get some more ladies out on the grass! Money paid will go towards water, snacks, and other items available for FREE; and prizes, of course. Every single penny goes into the tournament, whether it’s for prizes, the field, or provisions.

I know that this may conflict with other tournaments or plans, but with my schedule, it was either this weekend or not host this year. It's year five, so I've gotta do it! Thank you to everyone who has participated over the last five years and who chooses to continuously support this tournament that means so much to me. I try to give everyone the best experience I can.
