📣 Help Shape Two Historic Museums in Jackson County
Join us for a Community Workshop and play a role in shaping the future of two significant museum projects in Jackson County:
🕊️ The Jackson County Museum and Dozier Memorial Park, a county-led initiative to preserve and share the stories of our people, places, and pivotal moments, including the full historical context of the Dozier School for Boys.
✊🏽 The Emancipation History Museum, a grassroots project being developed by the Emancipation Day Festival of Northwest Florida / Freedom Roots Foundation, Inc., to honor the legacy, struggle, and triumph of Black Floridians through the lens of emancipation and civil rights.
At each session, community members are encouraged to:
✅ Learn more about the museum visions and timelines
✅ Engage in meaningful dialogue about Jackson County’s history
✅ Meet the project teams and help guide what these museums become
✅ Share stories, photographs, artifacts, or exhibit ideas
Your voice matters. Whether you’re a lifelong resident, a descendant of someone connected to the Dozier story, or passionate about preserving Black history in Northwest Florida—this is your invitation to help build a stronger, more honest, and inclusive future.
