Trail Improvement - Cedar Lakes Segment
September 9, 2025 @ 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
We will start clearing the new trail corridor north of County NN to prepare for the Trail Crew event in October. Brush in the trail corridor will be cut and dragged away, and any obstacles to trail building removed (logs, roots, small rocks, etc.). Chainsaw work may be necessary to remove larger shrubs.
No previous experience is necessary; training is provided by certified volunteer crew leaders. Tools will be provided. This trail improvement event is not suitable for children due to the nature of the work. We will be clearing a very thick area, so wearing durable long-sleeve clothing is advised. Please RSVP if you plan to attend so we know how many people to expect.
LOCATION: We will meet at the Ice Age Trail parking lot on County NN east of Highway 144, north of Slinger. Click here for driving directions. Watch for yellow “Ice Age Trail Event” signs.
WHAT TO BRING: We recommend wearing a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and hat for trail work. Sturdy hiking or work boots and leather work gloves are also recommended for some tasks. You may also want to bring a bottle of water, backpack, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
RSVP: If you are planning to help, please RSVP with the number of people attending by September 8 to the chapter email (
d2FzaG96Y3R5Y2hhcHRlciB8IGljZWFnZXRyYWlsICEgb3Jn). This allows us to plan how much work to tackle and the number of tools to bring.
NOTE FOR NEW VOLUNTEERS: If this is your first time volunteering for the Ice Age Trail Alliance, or if you haven’t submitted an updated 301a Volunteer Agreement form in the past 12 months, you MUST download the form and fill it out. (Please use the 301a form linked here which includes pre-populated fields for the Ice Age Trail.) The form can be submitted electronically to the National Park Service as described in the instructions, or you can print it out and bring it to the worksite.
