A Special Town Meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 10 at 6 p.m. which will include a vote to allow the Select Board to enter into a lease agreement with Main Street Skowhegan for Phase 1 of the River Park & Boardwalk—the surf/kayak wave and access road on the south side of the river, and the first 130-foot section of the boardwalk from the walking bridge extending west behind Key Appliance.
Tax payers have voted in favor of the River Park Development many times in the past, to pursue the project in comprehensive plans, conduct feasibility studies, and to accept funds, assume responsibilities, exercise authority over moving the project forward.
This lease is a critical next step to moving Phase 1 forward and must be voted on by the Skowhegan tax payers.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Opera House at 225 Water Street. Residents are the only ones who can vote on the lease, but all are welcome, and non-residents will be asked to sit in the balcony. Please share this event posting, and come to share your point of view.
