Mad Dogs and Englishmen, a tribute concert celebrating the legendary 1970 tour by Joe Cocker and Leon Russell comes to North Shore Center this fall, with Derrick Procell portraying Joe Cocker and Brother John Kattke as Leon Russell.
The show includes special guests Chicago vocalist Lynne Jordan, Scott Boyer, who toured with Leon Russell on guitar, saxophonist Frank Catalano, guitarist Chris Forte, and a team of background vocalists: Julie Miller, Brooke Fauver, and Revelator’s Gracie Lubisky and Sophie Hafer.
Joe Cocker’s manager booked a 2-month tour with only 9 days to prepare. Cocker had no band, so he turned to Leon Russell, who assembled a 10-piece band in 48 hours. After 3 days of rehearsal, the group grew to 43 people, including family, friends, a film crew—and one dog. They did 42 shows in 57 days on a chartered plane, Cocker Power.
