Rise up to dance -
S'élever pour danser
From Feldenkrais® to dance
“Integration of 4 fundamental steps to create strong roots to support balance, stability, momentum and the letting go in dancing.”
By Marielle Morales, performer, choreographer & Kattalin Etxeberri, psychomotor therapist
Both certified practitioner in Feldenkrais® Méthod
Guided by two Feldenkrais® practitioners, the Rise up to dance workshop is open to anyone, with no prior dance or somatic practice experience, or professionals, who are curious about learning through the body and movement.
This is a time for oneself, toward oneself and others, where we begin with guidance specific to the Feldenkrais® method, exploring our habit patterns, both functional and choreographic, in order to improve them through awareness.
The discoveries and experiences allow us to readjust, rediscover, or discover which movements are closest to us and to get moving with great ease and fluidity.
The danced gestures and movements allow a focus on gravity, flow, and the internal spaces of the body. The particularity of this workshop is to bring dance to life, through physical and physiological experience, feelings and observation, rather than mechanical repetition, in order to (re)discover the paths specific to each person.
Kattalin Etxeberri, originally from the Basque Country, began her studies in osteopathy and then obtained a degree in psychology and a diploma in psychomotor therapy in 2012.
She then supports children with learning difficulties and trains teachers and support workers and technicians for students with disabilities (AESH and ATSEM). At the same time, she trained in the Feldenkrais Method, which she felt could bring together all her interests and tools to approach learning through movement and the body.
Now a certified practitioner, she collaborates with artists, organizing workshops combining Feldenkrais® and artistic disciplines such as dance, photography, printmaking, singing, and climbing.
Marielle Morales, is a dancer for many years, all around Europe and Latin America. She created the mala hierba company, when she arrived in Brussels in 2003. Since 1995, she’s a teacher of contemporary dance, improvisation and instantaneous composition. passionate by physiology, anatomy, biomechanical and somatics, she became a certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais® method. She puts together all those perception, sensing and composition tools, for her work as a choreographer.
Her pedagogical work is energetic, fluid and embodied, drawing on both micro and macro movement. The dance that emerges is made up of several layers of attention, of states, in addition to technical movement.
In this way, each one is led to discover his or her own movement pathways, and to experience them through energetic fluidity and feeling.
