Introduction to Ferus Animi // Terra Nova training methodologies

Class Description
Over the 5 days, Tom English will introduce the principles of movement and performance that underlie the Ferus Animi // Terra Nova movement research methodology. It will involve a daily form of mobilisations to expose our systems to movement nourishment for health, athleticism and longevity. There will be solo and group improvisation to explore creativity, imagination and visualisation as well as both collaborative and competitive partnering games to expose our movement blind spots. We will touch upon scientific theory around performance psychology, evolutionary physiology, behavioural neuroscience and functional biomechanics. The workshop is designed to expose participants to a daily dose of functional failure and will be both physically demanding and mentally stimulating. It will involve cultivating an open learning environment and motivational climate in which participants can learn from themselves, each other, and the exercises in an optimal developmental manner, guided by both the research and our collective intuition.

Tom is the founder of Ferus Animi // Terra Nova and is the designer and course leader of the MA Dance: Performance programme at London Contemporary Dance School (The Place). He is a former Associate Director and performer with Punchdrunk, and former performer with Ultima Vez, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, English National Ballet and the National Theatre London. His expertise is in performance psychology, athletic development, functional biomechanics, motor learning and neurobiology.
The price of the full time workshop (30h) is of 300 euros with food included.
Early birds before the 5th of July: 275 euros.
Accommodation: We offer shared housing for up to three people, available for a small contribution. Please let us know if you require it!
Two bursaries are available for two people in need to follow the workshop at 50% of the price. We invite whoever would like to benefit of this formula to send us a motivation letter.
