Patrick Tass is een Belgische regisseur van Palestijnse afkomst, geboren in Beiroet in 1992. Nu woont hij in Brussel, waar hij zijn eerste speelfilm maakte met Atelier Graphoui in samenwerking met Cinemaximiliaan, S.I.C., Goethe Institut & Bozar (Hallaqat 2024).
In Mea Culpa onthult Patrick de geheimen en schuldgevoelens die de kern vormen van zijn relatie met zijn moeder Randa. Via hun audioberichten en videogesprekken, die hij in de loop der jaren verzamelde, zien we een spiegelbeeld van haar leven in Libanon en het zijne in België. Deze prachtige ode aan genderidentiteit voor een jonge Palestijnse emigrant, afwisselend ontroerend, provocerend en hilarisch, sluit aan bij onze universele waarden en vragen.

Patrick Tass is a Belgian director of Palestinian origin, born in Beirut in 1992. Now he lives in Brussels, where he made his first feature film with Atelier Graphoui in collaboration with Cinemaximiliaan, S.I.C., Goethe Institut & Bozar (Hallaqat 2024).
In Mea Culpa Patrick exposes the secrets and guilt that are at the core of his relationship with his mother Randa. Through their audio messages and video calls, that he collected over the years, we see a mirror portrait of her life in Lebanon and his in Belgium. By turns moving, provocative and hilarious, this beautiful ode to gender identity for a young Palestinian emigrant is resonating with our universal values and questions.
