On Saturday I'm planning a hike to Dambau Peak (1369 m/ 4491 ft).
This is the highest peak in Trascau Mountains. It might not be too high, but it offers very nice views to Fagaras Mountains.
The hike will start at 8:30 am from the city of Zlatna, in Alba county. It's an hour and a half drive from Sibiu (115 km / 71 miles). We will meet in Zlatna, in the parking lot of Penny supermarket. From there, we will drive 5 more minutes to the starting point of the hike.
The hike will be around 16 km / 10 miles, with a total of 900 m / 2950 ft elevation.
So it won't be like a walk in the park. The hike is accesible to anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
Mandatory gear:
- Waterproof mountain boots
- Snow gaiters
- Hiking pants (not jeans or joggers)
- Softshell jacket
- Headlamp
- Trekking poles are recommended, but not mandatory.
- Gloves.
You should pack water and food for the day.

About me: I moved to Sibiu from Bucharest 2 years ago. Because I work from home, making friends in Sibiu is not easy. I love trekking and I would like to meet people who would like to get to know better the mountains around Sibiu. I'm not a mountain guide or anything, but I do have a lot o experience in trekking. I will come with my 3,5 y.o. border collie dog.
