Now in its 8th season, Silverton Summer Sounds is a free open-air music series produced by Silverton Creative District. This family-friendly event features libations, food trucks and free live music in Memorial Park. Concerts take place at 6 pm every 2nd Friday of the month from June through September with two high caliber musical acts at each show, including nationally touring artists alongside local opening acts.
AUGUST 8: FRONTERA BUGALÚ
Frontera Bugalú is a powerhouse borderland band out of El Paso, Texas, blending classic cumbia, Latin soul, and border folk into a sound that’s both deeply rooted and electrifyingly fresh. Their bilingual, genre-bending style reflects the cultural vibrancy of the U.S.–Mexico frontera, fusing vintage rhythms with contemporary flair to create a dance-ready experience that’s equal parts celebration and storytelling.
Led by frontman and founder Kiko Rodríguez, Frontera Bugalú delivers high-octane performances that ignite dance floors and bring communities together. Their original music honors traditional Latin American genres like cumbia, bolero, and boogaloo while layering in Chicano soul, norteño influences, and gritty border-town swagger. The result is a magnetic sound that resonates with audiences across generations and cultures, inviting everyone to move, sing, and connect.
They’ve shared the stage with legendary artists such as Los Lobos, La Santa Cecilia, Celso Piña, and Yeison Landero, and have lit up festival crowds at such events as the Lotus World Music & Arts Festival and the Albuquerque International Festival. Whether playing a street festival or a late-night set, Frontera Bugalú turns every performance into a cross-cultural celebration of rhythm, roots, and joy — a true reflection of life on the border.

LOCAL OPENING ACT: PUTTYTAT
At its core PuttyTat is a psychedelic jam-rock band comprised of Silverton locals Nathaniel Schroepfer on bass, Thomas Moore on drums and Todd Bove on guitar. Known for frequently tapping in to local talent to complete the lineup on a given night, we get by with a little help from our friends! Listeners can expect to hear a unique spin on familiar classics and b-sides stretching from Parliament Funkadelic and the Grateful Dead to Pink Floyd and Radiohead.
