Carlinhos do Salgueiro Dance Workshops in Washington, DC!

Carlinhos do Salgueiro, the “King of Samba,” is one of Brazil’s most revered and awarded Artistic Directors and Choreographers.

There are three options for participating in this amazing opportunity:

Monday July 21st, 7:30 - 9:30pm ($70)

Tuesday July 22nd, 7:30 - 9:30 ($70)

Guests can book both days at a discount of $120.

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Carlinhos is a true visionary who is famous for his trailblazing work, revolutionizing the art of Samba no pé in Brazil and internationally. Carlinhos is the director and choreographer for Rio Carnaval’s number one Passista ala and the Maculele ala at the highly acclaimed G.R.E.S. Acadêmicos Do Salgueiro (Samba school) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is also the choreographer for the most prestigious Samba competition in Brazil, the Rainha do Carnaval, where the Queen of Rio Carnaval is chosen each year. The internationally renowned samba master has trained a lot of the current Master Teachers, Queens, Muses and even Directors of Passistas at other Samba Schools!

Carlinhos just won the biggest award of the Brazilian Carnival, the "Estandarte de Ouro 2025" (the "Oscar" of the Brazilian Carnival) for the Best Passista Team in the Carnival for the 5th time, and the Best Passista Director, among 4 other Awards that he just won for 2025 Carnival! Carlinhos is amongst the elite Rio Carnaval greats.

Vavá United School of Samba is excited to host this uber-talented and dynamic samba artist for the first time ever in Washington, DC! Tickets are $70 per workshop, when paid in advance, $120 for both days. If space allows, tickets will be available at the door for $80 per workshop.
