We are proud to offer such an amazing and important class to our youth! Babysitter’s Training provides participants aged 11 to 16 years the knowledge and skills they need to safely and responsibly care for children and infants. This course is a mix of lecture, video, in-class activity, group discussion, skill practice and skill assessment to help participants build their knowledge and develop hands-on skills. Topics covered include:
•How to be an effective leader
•How to start a babysitting business and find work
•How to keep everyone safe
•How to provide basic child care for children and infants
•How to perform basic child care skills (e.g., picking up and holding, bottle-feeding, spoon-feeding and diapering)
•How to choose age-appropriate activities
•How to recognize and handle a variety of behavior challenges
•How to take the emergency action steps: CHECK—CALL—CARE
•How to recognize and respond to choking emergencies
•How to perform abdominal thrusts and back blows/chest thrusts for children and infants
•How to recognize and respond to bleeding emergencies
•How to apply direct pressure to control external life-threatening bleeding
Pair it with a CPR class immediately following for a full day of learning and preparation to start your very own babysitting business!
