Walking in Two Worlds - Documentary Screening

Ultimate Spirit in collaboration with Victoria Ultimate is screening the powerful WSÁNEC School Board documentary. Come out and learn on September 28th, 4pm at the Sidney Theatre.

I,SETEN E TFE CESE SXENÁNS TENEW - Walking in Two Worlds tells the story of the WSÁNEC community's commitment to preserving their SENCOTEN language and cultural heritage through an education system rooted in their traditional values. In the early 1970s, with an emphasis on "Indian Control of Indian Education" and following the wishes of the elders, the existing Day school was replaced by one of Canada's first Indigenous-run school boards. This new system was established to protect their children from assimilation into the public school system and to ensure their education was grounded in WSÁNEC language, culture, and values.
