ShropGeek 2026

We’re back for a new event this February. After taking a break for a year, we wanted to reach out to the technology community of Shropshire with an evening of speakers, networking and socialising.

Our venue is the Cats Pyjamas Cafe in the Square, Shrewsbury, so why not come along, make some friends and learn something new from our speakers.

New to ShropGeek? Originally we were a bunch of like minded web and IT enthusiasts, things have moved on in the decade since we started and we know there are lots of new people and agencies who we would love to meet! If you work in IT, web development, design, SEO or just take an interest in these areas then this is the event to meet other people in the industry.

We’re excited to welcome Christopher Mills from Amazon Web Services (AWS) as our headline speaker for the next ShropGeek evening event. Chris is a Senior Technical Account Manager, AI Ambassador, and Industry Expert (Partners) at AWS, where he helps partners leverage generative AI and automation to drive innovation and efficiency for their customers. With over 15 years of experience in cloud architecture, digital transformation, and AI-driven development, Chris has led groundbreaking projects spanning data quality profiling in the insurance sector to AI-enhanced partner operations and customer success.

In his talk, Chris will explore the cutting edge of developer productivity and agentic AI, diving into technologies such as Amazon Q, Kiro, Bedrock, SageMaker, and Frontier Agents. Drawing on real-world examples from industries including Formula 1 and the London Market, he’ll share how these tools are reshaping the way developers and enterprises work with AI—turning complex concepts into practical strategies that improve delivery, performance, and outcomes.

Based in Shrewsbury, Chris is also a qualified pilot at Sleap Airfield and an active community volunteer. His blend of technical expertise, business insight, and infectious enthusiasm for new technology guarantees a fascinating and engaging session you won’t want to miss.
