Leighton: The Wrekin's Little Hill and Hamlets

Starting and ending at The Mill PH car park in Leighton, SY5 6RN What3Words: ///nest.calculating.tenure, a 6.5 mile circular ramble below and around Little Hill, the very quiet, less well known, beautiful SW corner of The Wrekin Forest. There are some long but relatively gentle ascents and descents in a couple of places (total ascent 863ft/263 m), but we avoid the steep path up and down Little Hill. The walk's on mostly good surfaces along woodland tracks, paths, bridleways and along quiet lanes around the small settlements of Upper Longwood, Eaton Constantine and Garmaston, passing some fine C17th and C18th farm houses and cottages, before returning to the pub. There is a short wet muddy section in Cherm's Dingle so stout, waterproof boots advised. As the car park is for patrons only, and serves snacks and meals as well as drinks, you may wish to finish your walk with a short stop for a coffee/ drink or pay a longer visit as it offers a meal and light bites menu.
