Folklore & Foraging: Yule Wreath Workshop

What to bring

- A basket or bag for collecting your foraged materials

- A small-medium size jar for the oil infusion part of the workshop

- A warm and/or waterproof jacket depending on the weather

- Sensible shoes for walking

Included in your ticket

A guided nature, folklore and reflection walk, all materials and tuition needed to create your infused oil and organic crafted piece, an optional pick-a-card oracle card reading, a small offering bag, as well as access to the Sholing Valley workshop space including facilities and refreshments are included.

There are a limited number of lower priced tickets available for those who would benefit from paying a reduced ticket fee. If you are able to cover the full amount, please allow others who may benefit to have priority for these tickets. Lucie is self-funded and self-employed so any support you provide through attending these workshops goes a long way.

About Lucie

Lucie is a conceptual artist, educator and researcher based in Southampton. Through art she explores innate connections between the human condition and the landscape. She believes deeply in the healing power of nature, sharing stories and folk knowledge.

Lucie is currently studying a Masters in Contemporary Art and Archaeology and has a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art.

Lucie works with communities, organisations and individuals around Hampshire and regularly exhibits locally and further afield.

Accessibility information

Sholing Valley Study Centre is fully accessible with no stairs on entry. There is also an accessible toilet close to the workshop area. There is free parking upon entry to Sholing Valley and on the street outside.

Please contact Lucie in advance of the workshop if you have any accessibility requirements or questions.

Cancellations

In the unlikely event of Lucie needing to cancel the session, an alternative date will be offered in the first instance. If you are unable to attend the new date, you can choose to exchange the ticket for another workshop. In the event that neither of these options are suitable, you will be offered a refund. Tickets are otherwise non-refundable. Please contact Lucie if you wish to transfer your ticket to a friend or if you cannot attend for any reason.

Info: First we'll meet at the Sholing Valley Study Centre where you can drop off your things and get ready to venture out into the nature reserve.

Info: We'll begin with a cup of mulled winter warmer (non-alcoholic), followed by a guided walk around the Sholing Valley nature reserve to forage for our materials.

Info: You'll be taken on a guided walk around the Sholing Valley nature reserve where we'll forage for materials to create your wreath. During the walk we'll explore the abundant and ancient folkloric history of the yule-period and its associated botanicals, as well as the origins of wreath-making as a folk practice.

Info: You’ll be guided through the process of how to make your wreath and provided with all the necessary materials, ready to take your creation home and hang on your door.

Info: To end the workshop, Lucie will offer a pick-a-card oracle reading to as a means for reflection as we venture into the Yule period. This is optional.
