At 2:00 PM a monument and marker will be unveiled for the 19th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. This regiment was involved in a train wreck three miles east of Shoals, Indiana on September 17th 1861, resulting in the deaths of 28 soldiers. After 164 years these men are finally getting honored and their sacrifice recognized. Hosted by the Martin County Historical Society & Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Department of Indiana.
