For over 20 years, this seasoned Techno duo has championed the beauty of minimal sound—and this month on OIL, SCSI‑9 brings their full hardware synth rig for an immersive two‑hour live set.
In today’s 2020s scene, "Techno" is often reduced to hammering beats and surface-level hype. But true Techno was born at the turn of the millennium, deeply intertwined with minimalism and avant-garde sound design. As one of Kompakt’s flagship acts, SCSI‑9 (Anton Kubikov & Maxim Milutenko) have been heralded by media and critics alike as pioneers of a new Romanticism in Techno and founders of the Russian Deep aesthetic.
In 2002, SCSI‑9 made their international breakthrough with a live performance at London’s legendary Fabric—sharing the stage with Richie Hawtin, Gui Burrato, Matias Aguayo and others.
With shows everywhere except Antarctica and Africa, they remain one of the few true aesthetic purists in this chaotic era.
Despite their refined approach, SCSI‑9’s music is far from aloof. Their credo—“less is more”—breathes life into flowing melodies and emotive atmospheres. Perfect for both deep listening and dancefloor connection.
