At our May Chamber Luncheon, we'll explore how tourism connects with all sectors of our community. Rachel Hansen, speaking on behalf of Wild Side—Mason County’s tourism initiative—will share how businesses of all kinds can engage with tourists and leverage visitor spending. She’ll also introduce the Wild Side app, a new tool designed to help local businesses connect with visitors in meaningful ways.
We’ll also hear from John DeLeva, owner of Hood Canalé and a travel marketing expert with Miles Partnership. John will share insights into national tourism trends, digital strategies, and the power of destination storytelling, with practical takeaways for our local economy.
Tourism is more than a seasonal boost. It’s a year-round economic engine that supports local jobs, drives business to storefronts, and enhances quality of life in Mason County. Whether you're in retail, hospitality, real estate, finance, health care, or professional services, the visitor economy likely affects your business more than you think.
Visitors spend money at gas stations, banks, grocery stores, and boutiques. They book appointments with stylists, browse real estate listings, and ask locals for trusted recommendations. Even if you don't consider yourself part of the tourism industry, your business plays a role and can both benefit from and contribute to the visitor experience.
Whether or not your business directly serves tourists, you’ll leave with new ideas and resources to make the most of the season ahead.
