There will be a Launch Party held at Shelburne Vineyard on Thursday, August 21st with free tastes of Riesling being poured, and a concert by Collin Cope and Chris Page of Vermont’s own Tenderbellies from 6 to 8 PM.
The team at Shelburne Vineyard is excited to announce the release of a new vintage of single-variety Riesling under the classic Shelburne Vineyard label. Founder Ken Albert planted half an acre of Riesling vines over 25 years ago, and while the vines have struggled to survive in Vermont’s cold, humid climate, the quality of the low yield crop under the winegrowing team’s care has been excellent. Recent vintages have been released with various profiles under the Iapetus label, most recently as ‘Antecedent’.
“With the growth in popularity of Riesling in nearby places like the Finger Lakes of NY, we decided to honor the requests we’ve heard and bring back a classic style Riesling, which we haven’t produced since 2017.” said Ethan Joseph, Head Winegrower, “The 2024 vintage is a stellar example.”
“Shelburne Vineyard has a unique planting of Riesling in Vermont, thanks to Ken’s original experiment. We are very excited to share this special vintage with our local wine community” said Eleanor Leger, CEO of Shelburne Vineyard | Iapetus | Eden Ciders.
