Join local artist Jenny for a four-session course introducing you to the art of lino printing. Let the tranquil setting of Sheffield Botanical Gardens inspire you with botanical shapes to create prints using a wide range of techniques.
Jenny uses techniques that can be easily replicated at home so this is the chance to learn a skill which you can continue.

What to expect:
Session 1 – 15th September – You will visit the gardens to collect botanical images and sketches. You’ll then learn to trace these onto soft lino, carve and run a simple first print.
Session 2 – 22nd September – You’ll be introduced jigsaw or two-layer prints. After a visit to the gardens for inspiration, you’ll create your own.
Session 3 – 29th September – This session will introduce a different technique called ‘intaglio’. You’ll use tetrapak and acetate to create detailed fine prints.
Session 4 – 6th October – At this session you’ll have the opportunity to put all of your learning together to create a final print. You’ll also be introduced to ‘chine colle’ printing techniques which combine printing with collage. We’ll look at how layers can be added to create a really effective final piece.
