Hello everyone,
The next Nether Edge market will be held on Sunday 14 September 2025, from 12:00 to 16:00. This autumn community event will host approximately 70-80 stalls selling an excellent range of local produce, including hot and cold foods, drinks and crafts.
Local Nether Edge shops and businesses will be open: Wickwire, Oxfam, Zeds Wholefoods, Kollective Kitchen, St Luke's Boutique, Bench (Bistro food and wine), Yamato Sushi, Nether Edge Bowling Club, The Byron pub and Cafe#9.
To support our ongoing commitment to delivering a sustainable market, as a starter, Motore Cafe and Hartleys on the Hoof mobile drinks vans are offering a 50p discount on all hot drinks purchased to those who bring and use their own reusable cup/mug, so please come along and support our goal to reduce single-use plastics.
Market Entertainment Programme (specific times and performances may change):
1) 12:00 - Salvation Army Band
2) 12:40 - Shimmy School (belly dancers)
3) 13:15 - Cellar V (music band playing 60's, 70's and beyond, rock, folk and country)
4) 14:00 - Feet First Sheffield City Morris Dancers
5) 15:00 - Peddlers
Stall fee proceeds from this market will be donated to the following beneficiaries:
1) Project 6: "Project 6 is a voluntary sector drug and alcohol charity working across West and South Yorkshire. We currently work in Keighley, Bradford, Sheffield and Doncaster. We have been delivering services for people experiencing challenges connected to drug and alcohol use and multiple disadvantage in our local communities for over 30 years. We are a harm-reduction and recovery-focused service, working to help people reduce the risks associated with substance use and we offer highly effective, evidence-based support to people using alcohol and other drugs and their families" (Project 6, website).
2) Emmaus Sheffield: "Emmaus Sheffield is a unique project in South Yorkshire. Providing a home, support and work for formerly homeless men and women. Our social enterprise is at the heart of the project, offering real work, training and a sense of community" (Emmaus website).
3) The Suit Works: "We are an independent charity based in Sheffield run by a small team of staff, a board of trustees and volunteers supported by local and national businesses and organisations. We help and support unemployed people of all ages who are trying to get into work by giving them a styling session and smart interview appropriate clothing when they have the offer of a job interview and they do not have, or are unable to afford to buy anything suitable. We believe that giving clients a styling session and beautiful, good quality, clothing to attend their interview has a transformative effect on them and can significantly impact on their self esteem and self respect. We believe that this service is an important step for clients to help them in breaking down barriers to employment. We can also help them to prepare by giving them some informal interview skills training at the same time covering aspects such as body language, grooming, dealing with nerves and preparation or practical skills which may include something as simple as how to iron a shirt" (The Suit Works website).
