The Dean Mordy Keg Race is a long-standing JCSS tradition. The namesake of this race, Dean Mordy, was one of the founding members of the Johnson County Sailing Society in 1969, and the Keg Race was started shortly thereafter. Dean passed away in 1993 and the Keg Race was named in his honor as a key individual in the creation and culture of the club as it stands today.
The Keg race is a one-on-one match tournament style match race event sailed using identical boats. This year we'll be using the Catalinas. They are easy to sail and rarely used by the club so nobody has a huge amount of experience with them.

We'll use a randomly populated bracket for determining opponents based on the number of entries. The race will be run from the dock so that people are able to watch the action and so that we can cycle the RC so everybody can participate.
I would encourage everybody who can to come out and race or bring a chair and cheer on the participants. It is great opportunity do something gather, do a little racing and help carry on a club tradition. Will start the first race a noon and go until we're done! Might want to bring a sack lunch.
The race is open to members only but anybody is welcome to come watch!

If you are planning on racing please register before 5:00 PM on Friday Oct. 10th so we have time to make up the brackets. There may be some spot available the day of but don't count on it!
