VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebration

This year marks the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, a momentous occasion in history when the world celebrated the end of WWII in Europe on 8th May 1945.

To honour this day we are inviting you all to come and join us on Gillingham Town Meadow - let's come together to remember, reflect, and celebrate.

9am - Proclamation read by Mayor of Gillingham Cllr Roger Weeks by the Flag Pole in Gillingham High Street

5.30pm - St Mary's Church Bell Ringers will be joining the National 'Ringing for Peace'

6.15pm - ‘Winston Churchill’ will open the event
Followed by Gillingham Silver Band & the School Choir

6.45pm - Crowning of Gillingham Carnival Royalty

7.00pm - Music from the Land Girls

9.30pm - Beacon Lighting
Following the lighting of the beacon we will have an International Tribute & Prayer read by Revd Canon Tim Heaton.
Finishing with Hymn - I Vow To Thee My Country and our National Anthem
