Do your days ever feel loud? Maybe you work at a loud place, or your home life never quite stops, or you're just an introvert living in a wild world! There are so many benefits to quiet including memory improvement, improved sleep, relieved stress, and enhanced creativity. Let's come together for a relaxed, quiet hike in Sewickley Heights.
For this hike, we'll meet at our starting place, have some brief introductions and guidance, and then participants will be invited to drop into silence during the hike - focusing on your breath, the sounds of nature, and the crunching of your feet across multiple textured areas. Of course if you have questions, concerns, or needs during the hike, please speak up! But for the most part, you're encouraged to listen to the breeze, the rustling of animals, birdsong, and gentle running water across two small creek crossings. Our hike will end as we move across a meadow, which, in the quiet becomes a wonderful sensory experience with the scents of wildflowers!
Total hiking distance: 2.6 miles
Total elevation: 250 feet
Make a day of it by heading into the village of Sewickley after our hike for the Sweetwater Blooms Flower and Art Market - a fresh flower market designed to empower local flower farmers and artists to sell their quality, locally grown flowers, handcrafted artwork, and garden-related items while connecting with the community. Open from 9:00-1:00 on Saturday. *Not affiliated with the Women's Adventure Club; just passing this along to you!
